The Frontier Post – Pakistan – Lawyers hold rally against presence of Blackwater – Yasir Ali Khan
Islamabad: The Islamabad Bar Association (IBA) on Saturday held anti-Blackwaters near Sihala police training college in Islamabad and urged the government to expel US private security company ‘Blackwaters’ which lawyers said was operating inside Sihala college. Hundreds of lawyers hailing from Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Jehlum, Attock and Kahuta gathered here at Sihala Railway track and marched towards Sihala police training college. They were carrying placards and banners inscribed with “Get out Blackwaters from country” slogans. They were of the view that Blackwaters activists were operating inside Sihala police training college situated near Khan Research Laboratories (KRL). Stringent security measures were adopted at the occasion and a heavy contingent of police was deployed to avoid any untoward incident. Earlier lawyers had decided to stage sit-in in-front of Sihala police training college but security agencies stopped them on gate number 04 due to security concerns as it was also a highly sensitive area. The lawyers fraternity also condemned the behavior of Islamabad administration which stopped them entering into restricted area of Sihala. They were of the view that government should also ban the entry of foreigners into sensitive area. President Islamabad Bar Association Niazullah Khan Niazi leading the protest alleged that foreign security agency was operating in the country including in federal capital Islamabad.
