TEANECK — About 3,000 Muslims from across New Jersey traveled to the Teaneck Armory on Friday to celebrate Eid ul-Adha, one of the holiest days of the Islamic calender, a report in NorthJersey.com said.

The day is marked by the more than 1 billion Muslims worldwide, commemorating the willingness of Abraham — Ibrahim in Islam — to follow God's command to sacrifice his son, according to the report. The prayer event is often followed by dinners at people's homes, the report said. The Eid Committee, the Muslim organization that organized the gathering, represents three mosques in Hackensack and Teaneck, and they told the newspaper the event has grown from originally hosting 200 people.
